How to make an event fire from a decision?

Hello all you beautiful peoples,

I'm wondering, how do I fire an event from a decision?
I know it's a silly question but I'm currently creating my own mod and I can't seem to get the event to fire from the decision.
I've looked on the Wiki but gotten no luck there.
I tried using the following:
1)
effects = {
event = VP_wealth_event.00001
}
and
2)
effects = {
event VP_wealth_event.00001
}

If anyone could give me some advice or a point in the right direction, I would be more than...
